Just curious to know the pros and cons of bead lock rims....
So far, advice has either been totally against it, or totally for it... and usually both sides calling me silly/stupid for not doing what they say...

Depends what you want to do with the truck, and how much you are concerned about legality.
Beadlocks are illegal except for the internal ones.
Beadlocks help keep the tyre on the rim when aired down, but a good tyre and wheel combo can still hold the bead OK. e.g. I run MTRs on galvanised rims, down to 7psi and have never lost a bead yet. Tyres like Simex have a reputation for losing beads easily.
A third option is to use sikaflex to glue the bead on the rim when mounting tyres (poor man;s beadlock).

Sikaflex sounds like an option worth trying, ill give that a shot before i fork out for beadlocks.
I ran some 33inch boggers down to 5 pounds regularly and never lost a bead, my simex et2 came off regulaly and havent had an issue with my tsl's yet.
I think beadlocks are a great idea and good peace of mind knowing you arent going to be stuck on a stupidly steep hill somewere trying to change a tyre or reseat a bead

Linda could also try using simex HD tubes. Pretty sure thats what Juzza was using at last yrs OBC. Zac had beadlocked walker evans though.

a 75 with like a 2" lift i think it has,
its like a daily driver, nice neat and tidy truck and dose allot oh KM its NOT just a weekend car, its gonna get driven to OBC from syd thats a 14 or so hr trip i gess,
so i think beadlocks for her situation is a bad idear..
i am the person calling her silly for wanting to run beadlocks on it,
any one agree?

Don`t Internal bead locks still need to be engineered because of the extra hole in the rim???

I dont have 'internal' bead locks...
maybe i should ask what Roger Smith thinks of them... he'll be at the OBC (I think)... apparently he patented them....

Nice one!!
If it was me, i'd have a set of highway whels/tyres, and then i'd have a nice set of muddies on
external beadlocked rims for the weekends.
You cant tell me that external beadlocks dont look porno. Pitty i cant afford a set.
At the end of the day Linda, do what you want to do, for whatever the reason is. Its your car, you make it look/drive however you want it to.

Whilst I agree and wouldnt run beadlocks on car that sees the majority of time on road, saying they are crud @ 100k isnt true.
All the beadlocked wheels ive had and mates have had have been fine @ any speed even above typical hwy speeds.
The only reason i could see them being a problem is if they have been welded poorly to the rim and dont run true, other wise they should be fine handling wise, but i still wouldnt suggest for a car that see's a heap of time on the tar.

You don't need the hassle of beadlocks (of any type) unless you are currently loosing beads.
I love mechanical beadlocks and internal beadlocks work well too, but only if you need them.
There's no problem with beadlocks at speed, even the basic weld in types, but they are illegal, a hassle to fit and mount, fill up with mud, and often have slow leaks.

just leave the JT2s on the beadlocked rims and keep your current tires for all the HWY trips.
and swap tires for weekend trips

That sounds like the way to go to me. Will it be "next time" when you get the JT2's on?
