Diff strength

Hi
Ok I am building up a bush buggy , it will not be raod legal . I am mainly using suzuki stuff as I have some of it and its light , looking at a total weight of 8-900 kgs when done . It will have about 100hp but the engine may get tweeked a bit so 130hp , running 33x12.5's .

Question is do I run two 413 centres ( looking at 5.29 ratio from a vitara ) or do I go 413 front and vitara rear for the rear . A little extra weight and loss of diff clearance for a bit more strength ?

Or do I look at staying with 413 centres and run 4.62 ratio ( or what ever it is ) ?

It will have beefed up cv's and axles all round .
I was using 413 , then thought I should go vitara rear for the rear but now having second thoughts . I have air lockers for the 413 centres already , so would cost a bit more to get one for the vitara rear .

Coil . That is one advantage I had considered for the vitara . I have both in the shed too so its a tuff call .

Is the vitara going to be better or are they both goig to be marginal .

vit will be stonger.

depends on if you have 413 lockers already for it also.

you can run either 4.6 or 5.29 in the 413 carriers, but will need two vit front diffs to do it.

thou 5.29s dont leave much meat in crown/pin

If you go Vit your options are 4.3, 4.625, 4.875 & 5.125. The Vits don't seem to have a problem with the strength of a 5.125 either.

If you go the Vit rear then your front (Sierra) housing will be quite a bit narrower.

Yeh , ditto . I have two 5.12 413 carriers with two airlockers to go in . Width is not a problem as they will be custom axles . i\I also have a complete vitara rear end .

Are they strong enough to change plans or will a 5.12 survive ? or would 4.62 be a better bet . Have not done ratio calc's yet and they may be ok , and hopefully a little stronger .
