hey guys i have a 98' soft top ive found wen im driving up hills 9on the road) the car seems to loose sufficiant power almost stalling i have to drop it back to 4th sometimes even 3rd jsut to get back in action it also happened wen i was driving on a flat road also wen i start driving it dosent matter if i let it heat up the initial 5-10 km it will stall wen i come to a stop???? any sugestions??
I'm forever gearing down up hills in the sierra....even as low as 3rd gear.
This has been covered before you really need to check a number of things. Fuel Pump, Water in the fuel tank, Carbie (jets are clean?, float level, air/vacuum leaks) the choke can also cause these problems. I experienced problems like this when I first purchased my sierra. I got the carbie reco'ed and in my case had fixed my problems.
In really cold morn/nights if im driving on the highway around 100km/h for extended periods of time it does cause the carbie to play up a little and cause a drop in power (esp up hills). Usually it will fix itself up or in severe cases I have to pull over for a min to let it warm back up. These hickups became more noticeable when I fitted a snorkle.

last time this happened to me (several times) it was the standard carb's wax choke getting stuck.... the carby needs a reco to fix it - i got so sick of it breaking i ended up ditching it for a weber.
