hi there,
the window on my mates 4runner stopped working! I have checked fuses but all good. Is there a relay that opperates window i could check? I havn't checked for power to the motor yet. Just trying to rule out the simple (cheap) fixes first. Any ideas?
thanks, pete.

Is the rear wiper arm parked correctly?
What about the Child-lock button on the driver door armrest.

Yep wiper arm is the most likely culprit, make sure it is all the way up.
Cheers

Does it work with the key in the back? If so, it may be the switch that is faulty. I had a similar problem after a trip to double island. pulled the switch apart and cleaned all the contacts and all good. A word of warning, be careful of the little spring inside! Don't lose it!

Yes, the control box containing the relays and circuit board on the 2nd generation 4runners sits behind the passenger side interior trim in the rear cargo area and up near the tail light assembly. You need to take the trim out to get to the box, can't just take the tail lights out.
If you are turning the key in the tailgate switch or operating the console switch and hear relay clicking sounds, most likely the relay has blown.

I'd check the wiper arm first as others have mentioned, it's designed to not operate unless the wiper is parked correctly. I've owned 2 4Runners and both would suffer from the wiper arm moving down slightly after going over rough roads enough to stop the rear window working.

try the switch itself. i had the same problem in my 1st gen and it turned to be the rocker switch. $6 from jaycar, $120 from toyota.

the motors cog is made out of plastic and strips, so get power to the motor and test it also there is a switch that stops the widow from coming up when the tail gate is down that can go to.

i found with ours if you gave the trim panel a good hard hit, on the left hand side right near the back, it would start working again, i sold it before doing anything to the module.

yes the microswitch is on the left as u look from behind sometimes u can press on it and its enough to trip the microswitch. Just the other week mine decided not to play nice and stopped altogether i figured oh its dark ill look at it tomorrow. Jumped in to go to work and nothing wrong with it.
