Hi all I have just brought a Nissan steel winch bar and am in the process of fitting a high mount winch to it, I have used the search and found some good stuff, but the photos have long gone.
Can you reverse the spool in direction of the winch drum? can you turn the brake assembly around? and its it just as strong?
This would enable the top spool wire rope and would fit much better. as the low mounts are similarly turned around to gain the same effect.
If i keep the original top mounting points in the bar and bolt it to the bottom of the winch this will place a long way up the grill.
Or cut the fu#@ out of the lower cross brace and start to refab around a new position. what are your thoughts? cheers phill.

All I have seen had the hell chopped outt of the grill and the top chopped out of the barto fit down.

I dont think the winch will run backwards too well because of the rachet braking mechinism.

the man is on the money there, i have a cheezy low mount bar with a high mount in it, all you have to do is mutilate the grill and remove some excess bar work :D and it all fits nice and snug, oh and i 2nd no workey due to ratchet style brake system

F.A.T Winch Bars are the only one's I've seen that will take a Hi-Mount on a GU without grill destruction.

Ask GUJohnno, if I recall correctly he ran one for a while on his GU before he had a coming together with a tree.

I saw one on ebay that had a very modified bar but the grill was in tact. He was selling the ARB bar only for $900ish apparently modded by an engineer or something... so can be done but I suppose anything CAN be done.
