Hi all

This might be a stuped question but i'm up for new tyres on my 4wd and was wanting to know what to get. I mainly drive the 4wd on the road with little off road (i'm a chippy so the 4wd is for work). just wanted your opinion.

I just paid $310 a tyre for goodyear MTR`s which was for a 35"X12.5X15

Ive had them before and was very impresed so I brought a second set

MT/Rs are a good tyre, but quite aggressive - could be overkill for somebody who doesn't do a lot of off-roading. It looks like Tiggr83 has joined OL just to ask this question (welcome to OL  )

Would help to know the 4wd and what sort of off-roading you do.

I had excellent wear from a set of Cooper S/Ts, found them to be excellent for the off-roading I do, but they're a little noisey on road.

Other A/Ts to consider include Pirelli Scorpion, Toyo OPAT, or the good old reliable BFG A/Ts. For a cheaper tyre, the Silverstone A/Ts seem to perform OK offroad, but I'm not sure about on-road performance.

One final note: I'm a Coopers fan, but I wouldn't recommend Cooper A/Ts - I've heard too many stories about poor grip on wet bitumen.

I find BFG A/Ts a great road tyre, great dry weather off road tyre and they wear well too.

So consider them recommended :D

As predominately a road tyre i have had a great round out of toyo opats. I ran these for 2years until i wanted 33's so I swapped them for the Mtrs. After running Mtrs I would never own them again. They're crap on road noisy and no where near as good of road as my Swampers ( unfar test :finger: ) I am now currently running maxxis bravo 751 as road tyres They are a taller tyre than the Mtrs (another suck about Mtrs they're undersized) and they handle really well on road and are ok on dirt tracks and are a good sand tyre.
The Toyo's i got for $170e 31/10.5/15 2-3 years ago
the Maxxis were $210e 33/12.5/15 within last 12 mths
Have fun shopping you will get many mixed opinions. Depends on your load, vechicle, were and how rough the place you travel/ work. Take everything into concideration!

Got the Toyo's on the Patrol, and they are good.

Wife has the Brigdestone AT's on her Pathfinder and they are a much better ride on the road and not loss on the dirt.

The quality of ride is also a little in favor of the the Pathfinder Ti opposed to the DX coil cab.

Pathfinder has destroyed 3 tyres where the Patrol hasn't damaged one.

Both are good options either way, and personally it would get down to cost.
