considering swb utes look sh!thouse then no they don't, they look better. Of course a LWB ute is a factory release
Not sure what info you want from your question as you are asking for opinions

Why is everyone bagging Outers today???
This is the second thread I have read & if the person searched or checked the bible their question was very simple.
Then some random comes on, says something about another site & pretty much says outers is .....
If you don't like the site get off it..simple isn't it???

if you notice it is the people who've been here for a couple of weeks, probably asked a stupid question got told to search or look in the bible and got their panties in a bunch about all the big scary meanies here.
On the other hand any one with just a smidge of common sense would have alook around the forum , get a feel for how it operates, do a bit of a search and go from there.
Of course they could also be the sort of person who constantly embarrasses themselves when they meet a bunch of new people by asking stupid questions or saying inappropriate things
Sorry that may have offended the newbies but this is the internet and its full of bad bad people

thats a bit hypocritical wouldnt you say!
here you are meeting a new wheeler who is just looking for a hand and you go and flame them to make yourself feel that little more significant in this world.
but i suppose whatever helps you sleep at night mate

I sleep well knowing I've made a newbie uncomfortable. Is that you what you want to hear?
Also note I haven't flamed him. I answered his question as vague as it was. You went and decided his post meant something else and then got on a high horse about people being mean and nasty. If his question was more detailed, involved some tech or even asked a complete question then people would be more than willing to help. Vague questions don't generate positive responses because seriously, just guessing at what they could mean generally leads to either silliness or flaming.

Grimbo is only saying how it is on this forum.
SEARCH FIRST OR BE FLAMED
Doesn't matter if you have been here 5 days or 5 years.

lwbs actually came out as table top utes from the factory in either a standard cab or the weird Maruti style cab

Why are you cutting one up
a std long wheel base is becoming very
rare as everyone is cutting them
why not fix it and leave as is
just my 5
cents worth

Hi Pubic (nice name btw), because outers members are generally a friendly bunch of fawkers, myself included, I took it upon myself to fix up that clusterfuk you created when you hamfistedly misquoted grimbo.
The reason, because you seem incapable of working it out for yourself, that we dont like noob question time is because every now and then a big influx of noobs hits the board and they clog up the database with repetitive questions that have been asked a thousand times previously and generally still have the same answers.
Here are a few examples. All on the first page, all made by noob members, all answerable either in the bible or a bit of alone time with a nice hot cup of cocoa and the search button.

Now, if you stopped up your whine hole for a few weeks and have a read and learn just how much info there is on this site i think you'll find that there is more tech here than any other Aussie website, zook or otherwise.
Have a look at any of the threads that contain genuine technical questions and you'll see that the members here have a wealth of knowledge and do not mind sharing it. Its just that the same dumbarses asking the same dumbarse questions tends to get a bit tedious.
Sorry if you find the outers way a bit acerbic but"sunshineandlollipops4x4.com" is not everyone's cup of tea. Use some common sense and leave the butthurt at the door and you'll fit in fine here. By my estimation its the whiners with the attitude not outers.
YMMV

Sorry mate, that wasnt directed at you.
Here's a picture or grimbo's old ute now owned by jtraf I believe, its obviously a lwb ute.
Honestly though, the majority of sierra ute conversions Ive seen look like ass (not the above one). They have a payload of 450kgs (lwb may be more) so with two mates and some recovery gear and a full size spare you can probably legally fit a couple of six packs for the fridge before you're over your weight limit, so chopping one into a ute is not a worthwhile exercise IMO.

are people cutting up SWB sierras into ute for the UTE factor of carrying a bike or load of dirt??
or is it more the fact that when u get rid of the back section it gives it a more COMP look and give u less pannels to ,cut, dent, bash, hang up on???
just thinking, the ONLY reason id cut mine into a ute would be to stretch and gain wheel movement..IMO

The only reason I'd cut a swb body up is so it would fit in the trailer to take to the tip.
The only reason I'd cut a LWB body is to shorten it.. Like this ....

Almost finished my 'bob'. Took 300mm out. Paint tomorrow if it's not raining.

Maruti's all came into australia as styleside utes and they were cut down here. As a result they have more legroom than a factory trayback (japanese) but a shorter tray/more rear overhang. Really, if you're over about 5'10" you're not going to fit comfortably into a japanese sierra ute so a maruti might be the only sensible option.

I'm 6'4" and fit fine in my Sierra. But it does come down to body proportions. I fit ok but other guys slightly shorter didn't fit. Its all about how your legs fit underthe steering wheel

To be fair graham, you did run a fibreglass seat with the back hard up against the back of the cab, and no radio shroud because your knee needed that room.... your other knee was between the steering wheel and the door.
Whilst you did "fit" after a fashion, I do remember lots of ideas about how to lengthen the cab to make it more comfortable... do you?
I'll stand by my claim. anyone over about 5'6" has the seat all the way back and from then on it's just increased contortions and discomfort as you get taller.
