Hey dude. Welcome to outers. Can I ask a question? Did you sign up and immediately click the "new topic" button? You did, didnt you?
This subject has been beaten to death more times than kenny from south park so please for the sake of everyone, use the farken search! Dont you know that outers is hated by all other forums for this very reason? Go and join one of them.
I hope you enjoy your stay here at outers and remember;
new topic + clicky = bad
search + clicky = good
Just to answer your question, the bestest most awesome swap is the commonwhore v6. Search for the why part.

Stop asking or you will be flamed more. Just type what you have asked into the search and read.
If you want my advice, the MPFI 16-valve 1.6 Vitara/baleno engine is the best bang for ya buck engine conversion for a sierra. Just search for that engine in the Suzuki thread and you will find tons of info and people who have done the swap.

The search function sucks ass. I have tried searching heaps of times and got shit all back. If all you search nazi's spent as much time posted links for the newbies rather than abusing them all would be happier. If you don't want to help then don't answer his post.
Anyway my opinion is a Rotary don't think you'll find that in the BIBLE

Did you read my post? I gave him 10 links to keep him busy. How much more helpful do you want me to be? maybe I should give him a shiatsu whilst I read all of the threads to him?
Search nazis are no help I agree but 1. I was making the point that this comes up often with mostly the same replies, and 2. went and found his answers for him anyway.
btw I cant say that Ive ever had a drama with the search function. It works for me fine.
Oh and you are recommending a rotary? he said power
and reliability.

Not in the bible but these came up on the first page of 'Rotary' search.

I believe the general consensus is that a rotary is too 'peaky' and doesn't produce enouigh torque low enough in the rev range to be any good in a Sierra. JMO

The general consensus hasn't actully done it. We have and after a bit of fine tuning it has been unreal . We have run one for over 2 years now without out any major issues and has proven to be extremely competitve.
v840 yes you did post the links for him after you wasted a whole post flaming him

Here's my opinion from doing the same searches:
Easiest:
G13bb from Jimny
G13b GTI engine
Best without being too complicated:
g16a from Vitara
g16b from Vitara
Cheap but a bit more complicated:
g16b from Swift
g16b from Baleno
More expensive and more complicated:
4AGE/4AGZE from Toyota Corolla/Sprinter
CA18DE/SR20DE from Nissan Silvia
12A/13B from Mazda RX7

Well, theres your power!!!
Unfortunately with sierras high-power & reliablity don't tend to go together (for very long anyway) when running a stock drive-train.
While I think I't would be an absolute blast with smaller sized tyres on low-traction surfaces (sand, dirt etc, but i hate mud), as soon as you move up to a larger tyre size and/or start giving it some on a high traction surface like the blacktop, or especially 4x4ing on rocks you start increasing the risk of breaking things such as: axles, cv's, diff centres, driveshafts, transfer mounts etc etc...

no one said a 1.6TD

Stop replying to the tuesday post bot! It will only make it stronger
Seriously chef of slam, do a search, a GZE is a big, complex, expensive, conversion. It's not a beginner project and will create a car that can smash its driveline pretty easily.
Sounds like you need a G13BB.
Steve.

ok is the g13bb out of the gti and is it an easy swap

why are you wanting to change your engine? Is the current one just old and in need of a decent rebuild? Have you put larger tyres on and found you've lost power which would mean you need lower gears? Have you come from a sports car background and never driven a Sierra and didn't realise they actually aren't a fast vehicle?
Do you plan on doing the conversion yourself? HAve you considered the fact that putting in a more powerful engine will also involve usually changing your driveline as well, probably having to fit larger brakes, getting the vehicle engineered for approval?
What research have you done other than asking what's the best engine?
As to Overkilll and the rotary swap. What sort of Rotary engine? What sort of vehicle has it gone into? What other driveline swaps had to be done? Is this a n engineereed registered vehicle or a comp vehicle? What othher details can you provide on this as it seems that the big problem in the past for street legal Sierras with the swap is that driveline strength is a problem, braking ability is also an issue and in Victoria with large horsepower gains there are restrictions due to chassis strength and braking ability

chef of slam wrote:hey guys what is the best and easy engine swap for a zook im after power and reliability in the bush and the mud?
That depends on what you're starting out with (1.0/1.3 Sierra, 1.6carby/efi, 2.0 4cyl, 2.0 V6 Vit, G13 or M13 Jimny, 1.6, 2.0 2.5 GV or 2.7 XL-7) and how much power/torque you want. 30kW? 50kW? 100kW? 200kW?
Best and easiset won't necessarily be the same thing.
What other mods are you doing?
What is your budget?
How much can you do yourself?
If you want an answer suited to you then post up more info.

are you reading what people are saying, have you done any research, looked in the bible etc?
What gearing do you have to counter the 33s?

by v840
Forget about power for a second, have you got gears? Thats what you need for bigger tyres dude. Gears are the best mod you can do to a sierra (assuming thats what you have even though you never actually specified).
The above is not a flame, its actual advice just in case you were'nt certain.
EDIT: beaten by grimbo. Again.

CHEF,
as all of the other guys haev told you, have a peek through the bible.
the best thing you could do is go through each engine you have considered
and write down the pros and cons of each engine.
read back through this thread and take in what the guys have been telling you.
all of the boys on here mean well, they just haeva funny way of showing it
none the less they all make very valid points.
write down on a bit of paper every point that has been raised, whether it be about gearing or questions that ask about your style of driving you want to do. answer all of those questions on your bit of paper to get a good idea of what you want.
then put together your two bits of paper and work out whats best for you.
a suzuki motor will be the easiest conversion. most of the blocks are them same. i think in general the baleno will offer you the best all round gains.
