mk TD snorkel

g'day all
i am starting to make a snorkel for my swb patrol and wanted to know where is the best place to hook it up to because there is a hose which comes off the standered air filter or there is another air cleaner looking thing in the top right corner of the engine bay.
any info/pics would be good
