hey there all

im in the process of building an exo and sliders for my sierra
and have a few questions that could probably only get answered on here.

i would love to post pics to but havent worked out how to yet, it looks a bit like waxheds 1

i have ~40mm tube f&r bars, sliders, A pillar, B pillar,
f&r bushbars (wheelarch ish) completed so far, all mounted off chassis rails.

for the record, its a registered weekend warrior, but im not too concerned about rules, regulations and the like

im wondering:
A.how much diagonal bracing i need to keep cage all square and off the body when it lays down

B. if welding decent size tabs from the body to the cage in a few points creates any problems (other than being a pain to separate body from chassis, which i dont plan on doing ATM)

if anyone has built an exo and has rolled it (research and development) or has some ideas, plz let me know

Not sure if you're serious but the 4-link and air shocks are the main suspension components. ;)

Have you got any more pics that show the top/rear?

From what I can see, I would run another brace underneath the windscreen to join the 2 A-pillars together. Have a look at A1's vitara in the tuff truck threads for some ideas. The exo he has is sweet.

If you dont already have them, I would also run a "/" or "X" brace on the B-hoop and preferably some sort of bracing running across the roof joining the A-hoop and B-hoop. Hope this makes sense.

Personally, Id probably run another brace off the brushguard back on to the A-pillar too and run a tube in line with the rear tub from the B-pillar back to the C-pillar. Your call though.

EDIT: Thought it would be easier to just post pics:

This is A1's vit. You can see what I mean about the bracing at the rear and top of the cab.

the rear section (b pillar to c pillar) is a definite, i already have them made up, they are going to sit roughly inline with the top of the tub.

the brush bars didnt have alot of thought put into them at the time of fabrication, but the plan is to later bring them up way higher in order to protect the bonnet also (hopefully), and to allow chopping of guards and tj flare installation.

rather than the peice along the bottom of the windscreen, i opted for plates welded to the body (hard to see in above pic, will take more) to reinforce that section.

i also have these plates welded on the corner of the tub to the c pillar bend to reinforce the ass without adding too much weight in tube

am going up to the workshop now to take some pics..
