can a hilux 3lt factory turbo diesel (KZN165R) use the intercooler from a prado? if i get all the piping from the prado is it nearly a straight bolt on job. Does the intercooler affect any of the computers? do you need to adjust anything when adding the intercooler. (just not too sure with all the computers and all)

what would be the price of a second hand prado intercooler?

Once i added the intercooler and wanted a dtronic for example, would i need the one for a prado then a hilux or are they all the same?

hey man

a prado intercooler would be great but there are some things you gotta do

1. i think the throttle positioning sensor and stuff on hilux need to be moved cos the intercooler gets in the road and i dunno about piping ( the pipe that goes from the urbo to the engine)

2 good luck finding an intercooler from a prado that a wreckers will sell seprately . usually they sell as a complete engine.

3. the dtronic thing doesnt make any difference its suits the engine no the car so your engine is a 1kz-te and the prado is the same 1kz-te but with intercooler so it souldnt matter.

i put an intercooler on my lux and all i did was

1. buy a front mount with some universal piping kit.

2. install myself to suit .

3 tweaked the boost a bit to 12 -13 compensate for the loss in the piping cos i had alota bends and crap

4. dont tweak it more than 16psi cos the ct12b turbo s in the lux wont handle any more and will blow.

that was it a first and it made a little differnce then i was told to add fuel with boost .

then i got a dp chip (dp34) and got that fitted buy a pro and got him to tune the air and fuel with the new intercooler and he did ..

made a masive difference best to do the fuel stuff buy a pro cos exhaust gas temps can stuff you engine if they are too high , they get high bujy addin to much fuel and stuff.

no point in doin the intercooler without the chip cos the chip adds the fuel through the computer and there is no point adding air (tweakin the boost) unless you match it with fuel.

and if you wann go top mount then maybe a bonnet scoop too to cool the cooler but thats up to you.

here s a pic of mine after its all done hope it helps mate
