				Jimny transfer case

				Hi all,
I have a 2006 Jimny with the push button transfer case; I would like to swap it out for the manual transfer case from an earlier model Jimny.
I am hoping this will be a simple swap with no other mods required, as opposed to putting in a Sierra transfer case that requires shortening the driveshaft and changing the mounting bracket etc…..
Does anyone have any experience with this? Can it be done?
My existing T-Case will no longer move into low range and it’s the second time it’s failed so I’d prefer to just go manual as I have done with the front hubs.
Thanks in advance
Brian

I'd assume there would be other mods as the manual tcase has a lever through the floor whilst the push button would rely on electrics I guess so there would also need to be some electrical work to ensure the 4wd activation light would work.

brianstevens what state are you in. If melb I would be able to help you out on this. Have a spare trasfer too. I think this would be a easy think to do. Wiring is easy. Did I read right you have change to manaul hubs. If so even easier. Have a look under the car there maybe a plate or something where the lever would go though. I can measure up the distance between the outputs and input if it helps. I think I seen you on
www.jimny.se try there too. Not many ppl on here have jimny info. I have T gears for sale if you want to go lower also.
Cheers Rob

The hole in the floor is still there, it's just been pop riveted over. And the light.........f#$k it.
I disabled the vacuum system when I replaced the hubs so that part is done.
I'm thinking it's just a physical fit now, making sure the driveshaft is the right length and the mounts line up and so on.
I dont think the body has changed at all (I don't know that but).
I'm kninda hoping someone has done it.

Hi Rob, I'm in Sydney. Mate I would appreciate any and all advice you may be able to offer. I can get a T-Case for about $300 from the wreckers and I'm happy to fit the thing myself.
If you have the manual T-Case and could measure the drive shaft it would be a big help.
Yes, the hubs are done and work great (until the transfer case packed up)
Thanks for your reply
