valve lube on lpg turbo

Is it possible/recommended to use valve lube on a turbo lpg petrol motor? If so how is it installed?

Just make sure its tuned properly and it will be fine.

id do it mate. seen our headfor nut running it and its rooted (been on gas for 14 years) so i would do it

Is it ok to have it plumbed before the turbo? I don't like the idea of a liquid getting sucked through the turbo but if its ok I'll do it. At the moment it gets sucked in by engine vacuum at the inlet manifold but that won't work with positive pressure from the turbo.

If your engine is/was produced to run on unleaded fuel in Aus after 1985, there is no need for UCL. (it's a con job)

If your engine was produced in the era for fuel before 1985, then you need UCL.

Wouldn't it be best just to get the hardened valve seals put in and not worry bout the valve lube?

Its a 4.5 petrol GU but I figured all lpg engines would be the same ie. if it needed valve lube without turbo it would need it with turbo.

Probably would be the way to go but I'm trying to avoid opening the motor up at the moment. If it eventually blows I'll do the pistons/rods/head etc then.

Anything with an alloy head already has steel inserts, doesn't matter when its made.

The valve lube junk you can just leave on if you must, it will not work infront of the turbo, it requires manifold vacuum to operate, and with boost it just wont work, but off boost it will.

Ive built and tuned a few lpg turbo setups, just make sure the tuner knows that RICH on LPG=HOT, and its bad, you'll be surprised how little some tuners know about lpg despite what they say, and how many LPG installers have no idea regarding forced induction and actually making decent power.

IMO your thinking about stuff that doesn't matter, be more concerned about getting enough lpg flow from the system, engine bay hardware is easily upgraded, but the lpg tank will still limit your output around the 230rwkw level, which you should easily reach I would think. Vapour injection will top out earlier than the vapour carbed but will give better mileage, vapour injection and boost are not the best combo.

Can you give us a rundown of the lpg hardware you plan on using and the power you are chasing? A turbo 4.5 could do really well if you get the lpg stuff setup properly.

I would think you have enough UCL from the blow-by as it is, why add "snake oil" to the mix? Blow-by already gets sucked through the turbo!

I'm not doing the fuel system, my mechanic is. He said my setup(some italian brand) is good for about 200kw at the motor but he will try it any if its not enough he will change it for a B2 convertor and gas research throttle body. Probably going for 150-160rwkw, about 7-8psi. I'm not after huge power, but more reliable power.

Cheers for the help and ideas. Talked to some turbo guys and they pretty much said you can run it before the turbo but it isn't needed.

I meant just for force fed setups.

The limiting factor for any boosted system is simply the pressure differential it needs above tank pressure to operate, and vapour injection requires more pressure than vapour carbed, hence why it simply cant make as much power for a given tank pressure.

If your talking about profire, or meant to link to that, its a great management system, but ive spoken with the guy from profire and we both agree that vapour injection requires more tank pressure to operate, hence why in forced apps vapour carbed will make more from the same tank. The profire system looks great its just the injection hardware is holding it back.

SVI is good for n/a but I havent seen any big power made with boost, ever, 500rwhp maybe with 16 injectors but you can do that with one GRA mixer.

I'm not bashing SVI, but when boost is added vapour carbed will make more power per tank or for a given pressure, in reality most people will never max out the tank, so I guess for some this info doesn't matter.


Liquid injection, now thats something to talk about, i just hope it doesnt take 5 years to become common.
