mark tacking inner axles

i have'nt done it myself but I believe its called mar tacking.
IIRC its a tack weld on the axle to replace the inner circlip. Could be wrong here though.

where do i stop the axle when im doing the measurements
because the seal surface on the axle is an inch long
do i just aim for the middle

Why are you Mar-tacking the shaft?

You mar tac the splined section that gose into the side gear of your diff.This is done so if you blow a cv it dosent shoot the inner axle inwards and detroy your diff.

I know why it is done. I was wanting to know why is he doing it. I havent done or seen a Mar-tack in years. I've only seen it done on full floats with a spool.
You will want to place a small tack on the outside of the worn/shiny section on the splines.

i only got the birfs and the hub gears as longfield didnt have a inner to fit the 78series
and it will be easy to get a better inner and swap it arround at a later date

might as well ask this question as well
i have a 4wd systems lokka and when i look down there i can see a shaft
going across the center
if the axles stop on this is it ok not to martack?
