Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey im needing some help here
a mate of mine has jsut bought a 85 swb patrol with a sd33t in it
bargin of a buy at 500 bucks, but theres a catch it came without the head attached to the block, the prevous owner removed the first one cause it was leaking oil down the side of the motor, had the head tested found a crack and sourced a new one which was rebuilt, I then put it on with the head gasket that was supplied with trol, and it blows a bucket load of air into the cooling sustem overpressurizing it pushing out about 2lt of water then bubbling in the water also the amount that bubbles out depends on the revs,

im thinking that its the headgasket but also thinking that it may have some problem somewhere else as from what i have seen at work with head gaskets is a steady stream of bubbles not water shooting out of the radiator

I have a TD42 with a blown headgasket andt it shoots it out the radiator like you describe. Combustion/compression pressure directly into the cooling system is going to cause more than bubbles........

Did you check the head gasket on the block before you put the head on to make sure all the holes were correct?

Sounds like the head gasket is incorrect.

Hello all i am said owner of the TD-33t and its possible that the head gasket was put on upside down, am going to get another one and re do it see if anything changes.
Any ideas other than head gasket??

Nope, most likely cause when the thing is spraying water everywhere out of the radiator. It is usually caused by a complete peice of the gasket missing between the comustion chamber & the water jacket & usually after a pretty big overheat.

The other causes would be if the head had developed a corrosion hole or the head gasket was incorrectly fitted.

i had a talk to gilberts engineering today
i siad that the SD33t has a problem with bore liners sinking into the block and it need to be measured before a ned gasket is fitted

hey when you are a mechanic you use technical terms alot more
i should rephrase from cooling system to that big finny thing in the front spitting green stuff everywhere, i reckon that sounds more gooder dont you
