Im having a problem with my 92 RR, the brake pedal has become very hard and the car doesnt want to stop. Pads and calipers are good. Is there a way to disable the abs and still have brakes? or am i up for an ABS pump, acumulator etc.
Im currently in the Northwest of WA, so cant get toa workshop very easily.
Any help would be apperciated

Check your brake booster - could be as simple as a loose/leaking/broken vacuum line. If you still think its the ABS, pull the fuse!

I own a 90 Rangie Vogue SE (just bought it) and will be removing the entire ABS system from it in the next week or two. My pump is noisy and not too healthy and the cost of replacing it is not a option either
If you want to keep the ABS, there may be some cheap parts coming up soon if you're interested.

keep me posted on the parts, Trav.
How are you removing the ABS? what does it involve?

Does you pump run continuously or cycle on and off ?
If it doesn't run all the time then it is most likely a pad issue, what pads are you running ? I have had that exact problem with bendix pads, go out and do 15 stops from 60 to 5 km/h and see if your braking performance improves as more and more heat gets into the brakes - if it does your pads are had it and need replacing
Don't rip something perfectly good out before troubleshooting a few things first

Mine looked spot on also but still had the problem, I had the master cylinder rebuild for no good reason chasing the problem

Does the pedal try to kick back when you first apply the brakes?
If so, the problem is in the ABS modulator.

pedal doesnt kick back, it has about 1 inch of easy travel then becomes very hard, but it doesnt stop the car
