Gday, I just got home from shooting and noticed as dad pulled car into the drive way there was a weird werring/rubbing noise coming from the right hand rear wheel, What could this be? My suspitions are the brake assembly has collapsed or its a collapsed bering.

What kind of car? ie disk or drum.

Jack the rear end up and shake the wheel if it has a wobble / play in it then the bearing is gone - fix it sooner rather than later otherwise you damage other stuff as well and the $$ go /\.

If there is no play pull off the wheel and you should be able to see if the brakes are having any issues. Disks are all exposed but you may need to remove the pads to see if there is anything stuck in the pads. drums you can also pull apart but if your unsure take a photo before so you can put it back together again.

too may times have i pulled something apart only to relaise i need help to put it back to gether again but cant drive the bugger anywhere :?

I second that, had a bearing flog out so bad on a trailer once (not my trailer - mine get looked after) that with 2 tonnes on it one wheel popped off and rolled past me at 100km an hour. then hit the median strip and came back at me - luckily it passed between me and another car and took off into the bush, took me a while to find it too.

controlling any vehicle with less wheels than it should have is not the best fun ive had :bad-words:

let alone trying to get off the hwy.

get it done asap. oh and it cost just under $2000 to repair the damage caused by a $40 bearing not having been seviced.

Gday, I got the car into work yesterday, and i found the problems, 1. Wheel nuts finger tight 2. Brake assembly all over the place 3. plastic cap grinding on wheel.

Thanks guys
