Is it at TDC when the timing marks on the pully and gear line up with the marks behind them?

thanks

you dont need the tool for the spring. a flat blade works well.
and turn the motor over twice and if the lines dont line up redo it.

it took me less than two hours to fit the injector pump/belt/injectors and retime it last nite so the belt should be pretty easy and less than 1hr.

Easiest way to do the tensioner is to remove it from vehicle, put it into a pair of soft jaw vices, compress it, pin it closed with a small allen key, put back into truck, when ready remove allen key.

And its about a 20 min job on a 1KZ-TE or 1HD/1HZ series motor

Its a good 5hrs on an L series... :bad-words:

that sounds complicated.... the toyota tool is just a bit of bent pipe with a handle to get the spring on.(work for toyota).
screw driver does the same thing without removing it the tensoiner.
