Well i struck a problem this morning, i purchased oil filters with two different part numbers (non genuine) so i could do a oil and filter change , pulled the original filters off OE nissan, they both look identical,
So does anyone know which way my non genuine ones should be put back on, my new ones have one that looks slightly different inside, they are wesfil items wz503 and a wz502. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers Mick..

some TD42's have different threads (to each other) for the filters and some have the same, I dont know what series they change but it does not seem to be regular.

eg; my GQ's run both the same filters, a mates 97 gu wagon had different filters, we did some work on later model GU's that had the same filters so I dont know what the go is.

Well the plot thickens, on visually comparing all filters side by side, the non genuine one marked wz502 has a massive size difference in thread, neither of the OE nissan ones do though.

your model may run the same type filters in both positions them

gu 1 and gu 2 run 2 different filters, one of them had a anti drain back valve in it. All other td42's ive seen run 2 filters exactly the same. havent played with one of the last td42's tho so unsure about them.

Go back to the shop with the part numbers off of your used filters and get 2 of them, they should take the filter back providing you havnt used it,

what he said

2001 model runs different filters, then they went back to 2x the same filter. Me and mate buy genuine ones 10 filters at a time, and get a real good buy, even better when we buy air filters at same time.

Yes some models run two different filters. They also have two different threads, try to screw one filter on, if it fits, try the other filter on the second thread. There aren't two many combinations to go through....
