lux diffs - how strong?

Post by j-top paj »

thinking of doing a SAS in my paj and using a lux diff.
needs to be 5.29 also.

question is, how strong are lux diffs? how big(tires) can you go before you start breaking stuff?

Thats a pretty broad question...

:?

How long is a piece of string... :P

Basically alot depends on your driving style, but 5.29's have a really small pinion and are the weakest of the lux diffs....

I know alot of people that run 33's-35's without any problems....

if you have a heavy right foot or do things like step off the clutch at full lock trying to jump out of a rut the std CV's and axles tend to go BANG! or the hub gears, ive seen pics on pirate 4x4 where the 3rdmember has snapped all the studs on the housing and the standard housing apparently bend at the knuckle's or from the 3rd member to the left hand side, hense all the trussing and gusset kits available,

build them right and treat them right i recon there good. altough would go gq's if i went coil's.

can u use MQ's there cheap enough

wel i was running 35's 4.88's std axles F+R and never had a problem except for shitting 2 pinion seals... that was under my 2.4boosted 4runner, that i used to hold flat to the boards (but you have to do that with the 2L) LoL

but now its in buits slowling getting built, ive fully trussed the front axle, got TG's chromo rear axles, 30 splines, hub gears all the other crap.. i want to run 37's or 38.5's now the weak point will be the imput shft out of the g52 into the twins, or the ring and pinion

j-top paj just go to the Locktup4x4 website as they distribute
Trailgear in Aust. & believe me you'll only buy it once!
It is some strong stuff. I was in the U.S. last week for the
Tin Benders jambo & saw some crazy drives & the Trailgear
stuff was up to the challenge..

BUILT they are as good as you will get $v$ before going DANA60 or hybrid and stronger than anything nissan has to offer!

yes they do cost $$ to build tuff, but well worth it as there is sooooooo much stuff available for them, and sooooo many different options available (hi pinion / low pinion / hi-steer / 6shooter knuckles . . . . . . . .)
