Yes I searched.

Any common fuel tanks out there that people replace stock Sierra tanks with? Apart from new aftermarket ones I mean. Mine only holds about 30L total from all the dents and instead of a straight replacement I'd love to get something that'll hold more, on the cheap.

It's for an 88 WT

i know the carry van will bolt up but its the same size only thing it will do is lift it 2 inchs

Here are pics of a Carry tank. Same 40l.. Same fittings.. Sender is even compatible with Sierra but....
WILL NOT BOLT IN to a Sierra. Not a SWB anyway.. maybe a factory ute.??

why wont it bolt in?? i was under the impression they were an EASY swap for a bit of tank height... is it possible it wont fit a WT but WILL fit a NT!??

Nt and WT are the same.

mounting wise you mean!?? as my NT has a drain plug and my WT dont!! but my NT also has dents and my WT dont!- I have differences

Carry tank is about 100mm shallower than Sierra but at least 300mm wider. Half the depth but twice the width/length.
It definately will not bolt up to Sierra mounts.
NT & WT are the same tank except for drain and one return/vent pipe.
I don't have the carry tank here so can't give exact measurements but will be picking one up one the weekend so will post up dimensions then.

ever looked at sierra mounts. they suck for fitting another tank easy in. all mountings on different plains.

If you have a bodylift, there's a bloke in Granville Sydney (name escapes me but Liam from BBM knows) that splits your tank horizontally then welds in a belt/collar... turns a 40L into a 50L...

A Carry tank requires relocation of mounts, plus you have to re-route your exhaust since this tank is wider. I had considered the carry option, and a custom built option for my body lift, but have stuck to my original & have had the mounts redone. I think you can buy long range tanks that fit standard mount somewhere in Oz... but I cant 'remember!

wasnt there an aftermarket tank that was clear plastic of sorts, and larger? i'd choose that over a long ranger tank - being SPOA and having a lot of clearance means i can afford the tank to drop a tiny bit.

That Petroworks one looks the biz, but then again so does the Long Ranger 70L one, and they're both probably out of my budget. As is custom making a tank.

Looks like I'm back to carrying a couple of jerry cans...

All I remember is that it was mentioned the clint aka bogoor had a 2nd tank possibly vit in front of the stock one but that would probly only work with spoa.

if you have a lwb tray back with a body lift you can put a hilux tank in there like i did (about 70 lt instead of 40lt)

I emailed long ranger tanks to see if they made a bigger aftermarket fuel tank that would suit my 2" body lifted WT Zook without ruining departure angle.... ie: utilise the extra 2" of height....

They said they offer a tank that olds approximatley 90L which is manufactured for the 2" body lifted zooks and will not cause the zook to lose any departure angle.... $910inc everything needed...

What you fellas think of that?? I know its expensive...but mmmm 90L.... lol

seems like a whole lot of useless weight to me

i reckon! if i had a choice on ideal tank size it'd be 55L... get at least 500k's before refilling, theres not many trips where you can drive 500k's without stopping for a loo break or food =)

does any one have the Petroworks tanks? they seem a good bang for the buck with currency these days.

I am going to be grabbing a 75L long ranger one soon. hopefully get more than 250k range then.

They will mod a smaller tank(75L) to suit a BL about 100 extra for it.

Mines going to be ARB staff price so i bit less than that cost posted up.

why 75L nic? will they shift it over the wheels more to reduce the weight behind the leaves?

90L maybe but 75L is enough i think. mines only 30-40 at moment.

cant really get it forward on the leaves as the diff is there and the diff needs to go up there

on yours maybe it may work but mine wont be that high.

ah yeh... my diff is 1" backwards too so that also helps. But the difference moving the front forward 6" makes to handling is awesome... it'd suck to have the rear do the reverse of that by hanging the weight out more.

wouldn't a heavier tank at the rear balance the weight of the front engine? Make it a little more friendly on the road cornering with the weight distribution blah blah?
