How long have you had the snorkel? Apart from the deep water benefits, has it made a difference to the way the car runs?

hehe that window is stuffed. i think its the fumes from the exhaust and the total lack of cleaning the car gets. the snorkel has been on there for ages now, i think maybe 2.5 - 3 years. you notice a diferrance when you first drive it after putting it on but thats about it.

Now that I've slowed down a bit, I've remembered two questions

The big white antenna on the front left guard - what's it for?

With the BFGs - have you altered the speedo drive, or did you think it's not worth it?

the big white antenna is a long range mobile phone antenna. because my car came with the really skinny 33" tyres from factory i didn't need to adjust the gears when i put fatter 33" bfgs on there. on sunday when i got back to my car and guy came up to me and said he used to have a red shorty with an arb on it and wanted to sell me the winch that he kept off it. i wasn't interested though, got too many friends with snatchys.

Stock 33's, thats real interesting. Do you know what you diff gear ratio is.

same as normal doug. 4.somthing. cause its an import soft top it had 18" rims with 205 85 tyres or sumthing close.

Interesting... do you know what you speedo gear ratio is? I would be curious... although I havent really been running around looking, I have been trying to find a speedo gear that would correct for the bigger tyres.

I bet the speedo gear your truck uses would be the ticket.

not sure exactly but i think the gear on the end of the cable is 23 teeth? thats all i can remember about it, i'm not one for remebering specific things about little items sorry.

Just throwing in another 2 cents:

The 3.0V6 should have a 26 tooth gear (I haven't checked) so once I get some larger tyres, I would expect to need a 23 or 24 tooth gear.

I hope it is as simple as a straight swap.

I was going to do the maths then print a sticker or self adhesive letters to replace the digits on the dash (printing industry rules!!).

Would prefer to be able to swap the gears though.

Well the good guestion is where the hell do you get the new speedo gears lol.

from mitsubishi, frank will give u a part no. if u ask him nicely.

It is a straight swap noisey. when you unbolt the cable and pull it out of the side of the gearbox you will see that it has 3 numbered bolt positions to suit the differant gear sizes. just line up the corresponding bolts and holes and it should all fit.

Trying to figure out what the us alternative is. Thanks. Maybe a picture or a description of the type of car this comes out of, so I can see if we have the same model in the us.

GN Sigma was the last in the Sigma line in Australia, before Mitsubishi went FWD with the Magna (I think you got some of them as Diamante?) They were made by Mitsubishi in Australia, all with 2.6 4 cylinder Astron motors (Astron 2?)

I think some earlier Sigmas went to England as "Lonsdale" but I don't know that any would have made it to the US. Good thing is they're common over here, so if anyone is sending you stuff it shouldn't be too hard to track one down and pull the speedo gear to include. I presume one gear is from the manual, one from the auto - any idea which is which?
