Does oil damage clutch disc's

Just done my rear main and put in a new clutch but my old one has bugger all wear and was only slipping because so much oil was getting onto it. Will the old clutch disc still be alright to keep as a spare? or would the oil have damaged it?

Buy a can of "Brakekleen" and give it a good clean with that. should then be fine.

i would clean it up and keep it as a spare to get out of trouble but i wouldn't rely on it

Why?
How much is a clutch plate worth these days?
Just personally, if I had to go to the hassle of replacing a clutch plate, I wouldn't risk a questionable clutch plate - I'd put in a new one rather than risk having to do it all again.
If you're talking about a "limp home" spare to take away, then it may be better than nothing - but I've never even contemplated carrying a clutch plate as a spare.

x2.
If you're going to go to the trouble of replacing a clutch plate in the bush
you might as well put a new one in. Brake pads/shoes/clutch plates hate oil. Depending on how long and how much they have been contaminated, they can be revived with brake cleaner as said, but if they are badly contaminated I would throw them away.

There about $100 i knew oil stuffs break pads wasnt to sure about clutch's thats why i asked. I was thinking if theres bugger all wear and oil dont damage them theres no point in throwing it out.

If you know how to change it yourself, and have the time, just use it. Chances are it will be fine if you clean it up well, and your not wasting $100 + resources/land fill
If you where paying someone to do it I'd say spend the $100 and get it done once, and get it done right - new parts all round

It's likey to shudder. Clutch friction material is fiberous so it absorbs the oil. You'll never get it all out by cleaning the plate.
It's not worth the risk unless you have heaps of spare time and enjoy replacing clutches in your car.

Spot on. Brakekleen won't clean oil already absorbed into the friction material, its only good for cleaning of stuff like flywheels etc.

Putting it in the oven will not do much good only make the oil thinner and probably pentrate even futher. Oil dosen't evaporate but it will smoke and stink. Treat your clutch the same as brake pads would you use brake pads soaked in oil??

brakleen is the gun...
useless information, but i have seen someone winching his motor up on big tree with a couple of snatch blocks... or winch blocks whatever they are.
anything is possible if you have to

It will make a great spare ........... frisbie !
but as far as a clutch plate goes......... its toast
Get over it & move on..... keep the memories if you must

Yes.
I've had to clean and reuse oil soaked disc pads on both my 4wd and my bikes.
Done properly it's not a problem. At least brake materials are formulated to take heat so you can burn/heat them clean.
