Dual Cab Ute 40 series

Post by Da Krusha »

G'day.
I just bought a dual cab ute 40. I fell in love with em a few years back and have seen a few around, so when a local bloke had one up for sale with a 1hz, garrett turbo and a 78 series running gear (including coil front end) I couldn't knock it back.

Now I want a bit of background info.

I was told that there was a mob in Qld knocking the bodies out years ago. I haven't been able to turn up any info than that.

Does any one know anything about these beautiful creatures. Who was building them, do they have any dramas with em, etc etc etc.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

I want pictures of this bad boy.

I thought they were turned out mainly in Perth for some time.

Typical 40 rust spots, you can get a fibreglass body done for it by a guy in Noosa, he is slack as.
hands and mums dont count!!!

By that I mean he does good quality work, it just takes AGES to order and get your parts!

The body is all steel.
Its a ute cab that has been extended. The rear corners have been moved back but the rear wall still sits behind the drivers seat.
The cab behind the seats is a plain bit of folded steel, or come to think of it, it could be ally (I'll go check).
The rear doors are factory 40 doors with the shape cut out.
If anyone knows any more about em I'd love some more info.
I'll post some more photos when I get a chance.

I have managed to find out that the body was made by Superior Engineering in 7/1982 (the vehicle was made 3/82).
Has anyone heard of them? I've googled them but didn't come up with much. Just a few dead links.

Hints?
