Guys I need to know where I can take my fourby to get 10 metres taken off my winch cable. As of now it rubs hard against my control box and wont wrap around the winch drum properly. So I need someone to cut the cable, and fit the hook to the new end. Where can I take it? I live in Sydney city. Any suggestions?

Hey mate no expert on this but I cut the cable at the oppisite end to the hook with a angle grinder and then crimped a new terminall on the end. As the terminal dosen't hold any load.

Done! How many metres did you take off?

Wouldn't the more relivent questions be what type of winch does he have and how many metres did he leave on?

When unscrewing the terminal try to hold the cable against the side of the drum with your other hand. Because of the tight coils in the cable it holds quite a bit of spring.

First time I did this I just started unscrewing, cable flicked out sending the little screw flying, never to be seen again!

It's a 9500lbs warn low mount. I only took a meter off, I was doing it because the termination was not on it when i bought it and the wire had started to fray. I held the cable in a vice when i cut it and it has worked fine.
