Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey there,
Anyone know of companies in the brisbane or near area that do ute extra cab conversions to wagons?

I know Creative conversions do this but was after some others for comparison.

Pm Link on this site, he is currently building up a shorty GQ into extra cab ute, OnTrack 4wd centre on Moss st is doing the work, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

on a side note saw a late model troopy cut down into a ute at Wandin looked very nice and no i didn't get a pic

Spoke to Link about on track and I just want to know if anyone else is doing the same thing.
I like to shop around not just for price but can be small differences that make the job more suited etc I like to do my research first!

I really would love to do this to an 80 series as I am a toyota man really but I just think that for what I want to do a nissan is a better buy.
The cruisers of same age/condition etc go for a fair bit more than the nissan and I am dubious about the gearbox's and don't know if they are all constant 4wd.

I have a couple of options in the end and any and all advice or information regarding this would be appreciated.
Maybe I should start a thread stating what I want to do and get advice from there????

Remember Creative Conversion will do a bare conversion for around $4500, unless you want a full fit out with paint (other than undercoat) I'd be interested to c what the others do to.

I know I got a good deal on my conversion, but what they are quoting others these days seems to be a lot different.. I've spoken with them about others quotes and they may bring it down again - their call though.. Another idea might be to get up to the short course and speak to Jeff Schinder. He chopped his 80 series down into a ute..

80 gearboxes transfers and rear diff are all up to the job, to convert full-time to part-time is a $600.00 conversion kit and in the running gear the front diff centre size is all that lets the running gear down. The figure some quoted ($4500) to chop it into a ute sounds fair if that was the dollers when i done mine it would have been finished alot quicker than the 3 years it took me to build up mine (ground up rebuild and colour change, original diesel basemodel to EFI petrol V8 GXL)

There is lots of talk about cutting down a wagon, is there anyone out there that will add the extra-cab bit to an existing coil cab ute?

AFAIK Yes

Creative conversions will extend ute's to extra cabs.

Note that their bare bones DIY extra cab at $4500 does not include priming, painting, glass, interior fit or tray and requires you to strip the entire wagon down from the back end to the front seats (remove glass, lights, trim, electrics, seats etc. They will comply the job after you have completed everything including tray.

Their rear panels seem to be very well made and when they make extra cabs on Patrol's at least they remount the body mounts to ensure there is a mount at the rear of the cab.

I was dead set keen on this idea for quite some time and I have the $ to get it done but if I did it would mean I prolly cant afford to get my v8 that I wanted!!!!!

I am starting to think I might just get a ute and use the $ I would save (upto about $8000 on the motor and modifications)

By the time I purchaced a wagon, got it choped and installed a better motor I would be broke and no money for mods and unforseen dramas that always occur etc.

Gotta put some roids into the money tree fertilizer!!!!!

That 80 looks the trick, ive seen a couple of em around but they are all done to siut single cab. Yours has abit more room!!
