F100 Offset.

Will f100 wheels fit and be a suitable off set on a coily sierra? The coily seem to be a different off set to the leafys standard item. The coilys have less outward dish.
I am about to do a 40-50mm body lift aswell as a 40-50mm suspension lift and fit 235 75 series tyres.
I have noticed that a few spring suppliers only have 30mm lift springs is there a reason for this small lift?
Does anybody see anything wrong with this or have another suggestion.
This is all on a late 96 coily.

Yes. With the body lift and spring lift you are referring to you will be able to fit at least a 31" tyre...
We have a 97 Coiler in the zook club down here that is running 31x10.5 Simex Centipedes with a 2" body lift and 2" spring lift. The tyres are being run on ROH Track II 15x7" rims.
Please note that with any increase in tyre diameter you mess up the gearing in the car - so you will probably want to fit some sort of reduction gears to your car. Because you have a coiler (with a chain driven x-fer case) you will have to get an x-fer case out of a 1.3 or 1L and (possibly) put a rock hopper in it. Obviously this gets a bit more expensive than just putting tyres under the car - but the end result will be much better too.
Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need more info.
Cheers

Thanks Greg,
This is for my brother that doesnt want to get to serious and pump to much money into it as it wont see a whole lot of off road. It is more just a case of making it look abit better and improving the very harsh standard ride. What about just a 30mm spring lift and 1.5 or 2 inch body lift and still the 235 / 75 as he doesnt want to spend the money on a transfer case thats why I didnt say 31's in the beggining.

Hey xtreem
I run a 92 leaf sprung POS, currently I'm running no lift and 235/75 bfg muds. No probs at all and I also know some one running 30 x 9.5 with no lift.
I would suggest to your bro save the money on no lift and get the S1 rock hopper in. Otherwise he will have a slow(er) car and a burnt clutch.
Also remember lower the car more stable it would be, and if he's doing it for looks then a low phat stance is where the moneys at.
Hope this helps

Do you really think its essential to change gearing for 235\75. This car wont be used for serious rock hoping . Will they really kill it on the highway

should be fine mine went better than it ever did on 235s than on standard tyres (89 1.3 zook)

Well mine lost quite a bit of power, look at it this way its a 10% tyre increase, a S1 rock hopper gives 12%, which brings it roughly back to normal. Its up to your brother, see how he feels without it and then he might decide to change his mind.

Putting a 1L x-fer case into the car will also fix the onroad gearing - it will also be 12% lower in high range... but will not be as low as the hopper in low range.
There's a bit of stuffing around to install a 1L case - but the parts should be cheap if you know someone (i.e. go and find someone rather than sourcing these things from a wrecker).

As Dewse said - you will be able to fit a 235/75/15 with no lift at all - just flatten out the seams on the inside of the wheel wells, and trim / cut off the front tube bit on the front of the chassis that holds onto the front bumper.
p.s. talk some sense into your brother

He should be able to pick a a 1 litre T/case in good nick for around $150 or so .. with the 235/s (31's will fit with that lift) he will like it .. The 1.3 motor likes to rev and an extra 100 or so RPM will make no difference to it really .. but the fuel economy without it will be poorer with any tyre size increase.
