hey all, on holidays n playin in the shed, wana fit twin snorkels to my shorty mq, is it safe and legal to mount my 2 batteries in boxs behind the seats, or will if have to get the sealed batts like the optima

Not legal, and definately NOT safe. You will need to got to a fully sealed gel setup i think (safety against vapours/spills/leaks). Hope you've got plenty of spare $$$$.
My mate has two big-@rse gel batteries in the special plastic battery boxes mounted in the rear part of his 80 series wagon.
