Blown diff

Have a mate thats running stock Sierra diff housings with Vitara 5.125 ratios and carrier, front and rear.
Been running welded for about a year now and on the weekend it finally gave way.
Transfer case I belive has Series 1 Rock Hoppers.

Just wondering what the best option would be to fix this...

1. Find another Vitara cw+p with same ratios and get a
Sierra / Vitara lockrite?
(will the lockrite for a Sierra fit into a Vitara carrier and how hard is it
to get a lockrite for a Vitara)

2. Get standard Sierra centres and carrier either 3.7 or 3.9 and lower
ratio transfer gears?
(is this more of an expensive option keeping in mind price of Vitara
cw+p)

3. Any other options...

Sorry for the long post just trying to figure out the best way to go about this.
Sierra is running 33x11.5 JT's.
Front and rear welded diffs with power steer.

Cheers Paul.

running the 5.1's in the cast sierra centre? i'd stick with 5.1's, and maybe add airlockers. if your gonna go lokright you might as well stick with welded centres.

The idea of having a lockrite was so that there isn't as much force being put on the centre when going around a corner (coasting not accelerating).

This is the second he's blown.

Last time cost him $500 for a new cenre and carrier which only lasted 12 months.
Just thought he may get a bit more life out of a locker that can disengage.

Thanks for the reply.

So will a Sierra lockrite be compatible with a Vitara carrier?
Im assuming not...
