reco 5l diesel knocking

Post by ClintzLux »

we just put a reco 5l diesel in my mates lux last night and its got a knocking noise.
packed up cos it was late and while i was at work i realised it could be an airlock in the diesel lines to the injectors.
so today we un done one at a time then ran the engine for a bit until diesel came out.
but the noise is still there.

any hints/tips?

Is the pump timed correctly. They may have stuffed up the timing of the pump by a tooth hard to stuff up but it does happen is it pouring out a heap of diesel smoke or running clean
plenty of parts on the bench

Has the fuel system been checked? What happened to the old engine? Is the noise at 1/2 engine speed? It may be a bad injector, incorrect pump or cam timing. Check all your basics first.
