Guys just a bit of info I fitted my drive flanges the other day great bit of gear and a big thanks to Chris from Locked up for getting them for me.

But when fitting them step up in drill size from the one provided to a 5/16 drill bit .This will give you a nice 3 thou interferance fit .The drill provide is just way to small..

What's the go with those? Do they replace the free wheeling hub?

Yeah you can't unlock them.

To keep the warrenty on my 30 spline longs you have to either by the chrome molley hub gears or the drive flanges. So as my zuks a truggy and never sees the road i decided on the drive flanges.

where does it say about this warranty?

it is common to strip the hub spline off the long. scotty did this to a 30 spliner - no warrenty

What happens is when the stock hub gear breaks and isn't caught soon enough it will wear down the splines on the stub shaft. The biff isnt under warranty because it isn't a Long failure. That being said I have seen him warranty a few failures he said he wouldnt.

Duncan, how did you install the pins.

They are very strong as well.

The drive flange would probably be stronger (or at least less prone to failure) than the freewheel hub setup whether it uses the longfield hub gears or not. I've seen plenty of FWH's go pop!

So if FWH's are not required, why not eliminate them!

Nothing but the Trail gear drive flanges also have 6 larger Dowels instead of just the 2 that the stock FWH has.

The first set of pins I used the drill bit that came with the flanges. It is stamped as 7.7mm when the new pins were measured up they are 8mm .I used a large hammer and a brass drift to knock them in .Now they did go in a certain amount but just way to much presure to fit and I became worried that the hub would split around were the dowel pins are. This is when I measured everything up.After useing a 5/16 drill bit on the other flange all went together just as it should with a 3 thou interferance fit between the newly drilled hole and the new larger drive pins.

You might beable to use the supplied drill bit and a press but I feel still way to much of an interferance fit at 0.3 mm.

Apart from this small hick up the flanges fitted great and with the 6 new larger drive pins Im expecting no trouble at all when giving it some grief now im running the 30 spline longs.

The preferred method for installing the dowel pins is to drill the hub in a drill press and then press the pins in. Using a hand drill with the hub on the truck you may not get the hole straight and the pins wont be true making it harder to get the flange on. T-G's engineer said that they used to use a 7.9mm drill bit but people were having problems with the dowels falling out so they went to the current size.

the DGR lux ran them at TuffTruck this year, with the confidence that we will blow up everything attached to them first!! We use M8x45 grade 12 SHCS instead of the std M8 studs and then these are drilled and tie-wired to stop them EVER coming loose!!

then at least we have aisin hubs with chromo hub gears as our "weak" spares!!
