Underbody bash plates for GQ...Really needed ?

Ok, im starting to fit my truck out to be nice and reliable offroad. My old Suby had bash plates at the front and under the gearbox. Ive been wondering about doing the same for the GQ, but it doesnt seem to need them, the sump is almost under the front axle, and the gearbox / transfer case is tucked quite well and has some kick ass cross members protecting it.

So I guess my question is, does the GQ need under body protection ?

What sort of 4wding do you do? Mud? rock? or occasional day trip??

The problem with some bash plates in mud is they allow more suction. As the air is not able to get between the plate and the mud. Where as with out there is enough room under the car to allow abit of air flow so less suction.
The only actual bash plates I have under my shorty. Is the factory fuel tank bash plate (which is bent) and when I got my Bbar made I got a bash plate under the front made, which extends under the car abit to just past the factory tow hook.

Well, it will be a multi purpose vehicle....Day trips, Fraser trips, would like to tangle with some hard rock stuff...Prolly as little mud as possible.

one behind the transfer case crossmember is a good idea. the casting gets ground through where the bolts join the rear housing onto the t-case. then all the oil falls out.

Ive never needed them on moderate to hard wheeling.
Not a good idea if doing spinifex country. Catched grass and catches on fire.

i dont have them either but i must admit my sump has a few dent in it...wonder how deep you can go without stuffing anything?
