Outer Limits 4x4 Board

have been looking into hiring a sat phone or EPIRB for my trip up to the cape but am just questioning the costs. for our five week trip it seems it would be cheaper to buy an EPIRB then hire one (around $450) and at around $20/day a sat phone would cost me over $600. is this about right or am i looking in the wrong places
