Jimny G13b auto to 1.6

Hi
Does anyone know if a 1.6 vitara engine can be bolted up to an auto out of a jimny with the usual adaptor kit . The only concerns I can think of are the starter being in the same place and if the spline can take the thickness of the adaptor like a manual box .

can be, but what computer you going to run the jimny auto with? the jimny engine and auto comp are one unit i thought. and jimny auto's arent the most reliable either, renowned for bugs.

Yes, it can be done and no I wouldn't do it. I've just looked at this option closely and I decided it was too risky a proposition for the auto to cope offroad with what I would want it to do.

Hmmm , that does not sound so good for the auto .
Would have just used a 1.6 block and kept the 1.3 head to keep the stock ecu etc . If necesary put 1.6 injectors into it if they are bigger .
A guy here blew his head and found that the 1.6 and the 1.3 16v head is just the same .
May have to rethink , althou it would only have 30" ish tyres and small lift so maybe the auto would hang in there for a while .

The stock injectors are fine, they basically flow the same as the Vit 1.6 so no need to touch them.
The auto is a Suzuki design made by Aisin for them and Suzuki is the only source of parts. It is a lightweight low torque unit designed for Kei Class 47kW 660cc vehicles and lightweight vehicles up to 1.3. The auto expert I discussed this with felt that it 'may' be able to cope with another 10% but a 1.6 has more than that and given the offroad demands you will asking a lot from it. It may be possible to tweak it but you will need someone who knows what they are doing and who can get some custom springs made up. Definately run a decent trans cooler and synthetic ATF. I have done this conversion before , but there is a catch !!!
You cannot use an adaptor plate , you have to get the block webbing welded and drilled like the old fashion way of bolting the 1.6 to the 1.3 gearbox , reason ..... if you use the adaptor you are pulling the torque converter out of the trans oil pump almost.
A second point is , you have to also have the alignment of the gearbox to engine absolutely spot on , any slight misalignment will cause flexplate breakages.
And yes there is no probs using the original head on the 1.6 block , this is how i did it to run the stock ecu with no hassles.
