Has any one upgraded the shity alternator driven vac pump. I now have removed the air con, and was wondering if it was possible to get a bigger belt driven vac pump and run it where the air con use to be.
This would allow you to remove the one on the back of the alternator. If possible this would give better vacuum and brakes and allow easier installation of a higher amp alternator.
Or does anybody know of a small truck that runs a belt driven vac pump.

Cheers

From memory the toyota hiace vans had a seperate vacuum pump for all of the emissions bullsh!t. No idea what model motor it was, but i'll have a guess and say that they're VERY common. Pick-a-Part has your answers...

The vacuum pumps are OK. If you want better brakes, it may require a bigger booster eg GU
