vitaras are more comfy to drive on road than sierras... doing the same mods on both like that i'd say theyd go the same places, and the vit has a larger engine.
If you're not going crazy on mods, then keep the vit =)

I just sold my Sierra to buy a Vitara as it was a daily driver
A mild Vitara is much better on road then a Mild Sierra. Much the same off road with what you have in mind.

you answered your own question. Keep the Vit as a DD and get a Sierra for the weekends
pros:
* if you break something Sunday you don't need to worry about getting to work on Monday
*Still got a comfy car for long trips
cons:
*rego and insurance x2
*you WILL go overboard on the $ierra

Get a Sierra. keep the Vitara.
Put the Vit motor in the Sierra, fit gears, 31"muddies ,3'' lift, 2" body lift and have some fun.

another idea iv been lookin into is the 3inch calmini kit. if i were to do this and an air locker then the only weak point to it would be the gearing issue.(and only if i were to run 31s or bigger i assume) in doller terms a calmini lift would cost about the same as the vit engine into a sierra, give or take. and i cant see a sierra bein any more competent than a vit when set up as described. all while havin more comfort! feel free to prove me wrong though.

I am with cj. lock the rear and leave your small tyres. You WILL be amazed where it will go, shouldn't have any more breakages, no gearing issues and still a competent offroader that comfy enough on road.
