Hey all purchased an old 3 way think its a finch?? anyway works fine atm but heard you can add a fan to make it more efficient?? i was thinking along the lines of a small computer fan just running off a spare battery am i on the right track? ANd also where would i situate it, on top? above the flame?

ANother question while im at it only had it running in the garage for a few hours al looks good although i noticed the flame is very small obviously the way they are but do they have any trouble with the flame going out??

Appreciate any help guys :)

You probably heard the tip from me.

I have 3 12v computer fans mounted on the rear top of my old 3 way, blowing air directly onto the condensor fins. Power it off the 12V fridge wiring. Works a treat, and allows gear to be stacked around and on top of the fridge.

Look at the newish Engels, that have "turbo cooling" its a computer fan blowing air up through the rear of the fridge, around the workings.

I've never had the flame accidently go out on me, even in very windy camps. The flame is small- hence they go forever on gas.

I've got a old finch three way fridge, little brown box that is something like 20 years old. Works great on 240V, and gas only stuggles in 35 degree plus heat. 12V is useless though, cut the plug off. Never had to increase the fan capacty or anything. The pilot on ours only goes out when its really windy. But will run for ages on a gas bottle

cheers

Thanks guys thinkin i might grab a couple of fans and run them off a small solar panel or run directly to a spare battery constantly being charged by the panel its only ever a couple of days at a time. Reckon thatd be fine?
