just looking around ebay. found a few speedoes out of older cars that looks like they could work with the machanical cable. is there any accuracy change in using a diff speedo with the orignal cable?

will have to do your math and get the gearing right.

I just put one of these on a mates bike and have wired a similar (round one) on to my bike.

They are for bikes but I think they would be sweet in a zook and am probably going to fit one in mine if I get round to it.
They are adjustable for pretty much any tyre size you can think of, have fuel, speedo, odometer and trip guages, are piss easy to wire in, and are easily mountable in a custom dash.
Just another option to consider.

Brendan_h, are you building a whole dash from scratch or are you just replacing the instruments? you'll need to be careful about how you are going to satisfy an engineer you can demist the car, all surfaces match ADR's for impact etc if you're building a whole dash from scratch.
To drive an electronic speedo, you can either set up a new hall effect sensor and magnetic trigger on the output flange of the transfer, or maybe, just maybe, try and adapt a jimny electronic speedo sensor into the sierra transfer.
I think DGtuning also made a part to do this as part of their sierra transfer conversion kit for jimny's.
You need to have a look at generic electronic gauges (like the auto meter speedo) and see what they inlcude to set them up.
Personally, though, building a dash is a lot of wasted money and time. How many gauges do you want? what don't the stock gauges do?

They can be set up to work fine. There was an article in either petersens or 4WD&SU about using a pushy speedo on a car a couple of years ago. Apparently works very well. they still need a magnetic pickup on the tailshaft flange to be set up and some maths to be done though.

I found this neat little unit from APIO in Japan (the home for all suzi owners) it looks pricy but I bet its good quality and also is easily adapted to factory equipment.

XD - XE Falcons run an electronic speedo (No cable) ... Maybe you can adapt the driver from a Borg Warner 35 (Falcon 6 auto) to the suzi box.
Falcon parts are cheap as chips at the wreckers.
The electronic speedo like in the link I posted earlier must be able to be calibrated to suit different senders.
