conflicting opinion on replacement of bearings
hi' Ive just purchased a 2002 cruiser diesel live axile 1hz after market turbo, approx 160,000km ( I gave up on me 'timebomb' other brand 3lt diesel turbo after 2nd motor). the other brand I knew a far bit about, but I'm new to the toyota. I'm getting two conflicting opinions re the replacement of bottom end bearings. Yes definelty do it now, and no don't need it, yours is the 'updated model'. does anyone know which way I should go!
yours is a late model motor ................. same block etc as the 1hdfte no recorded bearing failures yet and there is lots of motors with over 500 on the clock out there now
1hdt's are the motor of concern

then again, some people say to replace bearings no matter what engine every 150000k or so as part of maintenance? so would you think its not really necessary?badger wrote:yours is a late model motor ................. same block etc as the 1hdfte no recorded bearing failures yet and there is lots of motors with over 500 on the clock out there now

i also thought that it was a $500 job, but that quote would be labor included, the bearings for a 1hdt only cost about 60bucks, which i have just found outoldmate wrote:Personally i wouldn't bother with a 100series 1hz, but if it makes you sleep better at night then go ahead. it's only a 4-500 buck job
