I am installing a aftermarket remote central locking reciver into my GQ's existing central locking. The Kit is from JayCar and i have worked out it sends a 12v pulse down one wire for lock and a 12v pulse down another for unlock. Can any one offer me some help with the Central locking on the Patrol. It has a constant earth and two wires. One gets a short point of continuity to earth as you lock and the other as you unlock. Cant work it out from there. Any Help would be great. Thanks Heaps.

G'day Mate, its been along time since doing one of these - so here goes.
From memory the GQ only has a switch in the drivers door - not an actuator. You'll need to buy an aftermarket slave actuator (2 wire) & install it in the drivers door & connect it to the door lock button rod. You'll then need to wire this Jaycar unit to drive that actuator only. There is usually supplied with these type of units different type of wiring configurations to suit negative switching, positive switching etc. From your description the unit is configured for positive switching. Check the instructions to see if it shows how to wire it up for change over switching where one wire will have positive & the other negative for lock & vice versa for unlock. It sounds like you'll need two relays to achieve this though.

Thanks heaps mate. I didn't even click that there was no motor in the drivers door. I had a slave sitting round at home and got it all done. Thanks again.
