Has anybody here put a commo V6 into a pajero or triton using the standard mitsu 5 speed? Was there any problems with the gearbox? ie: towing, reliability, breakages, gearing suitability. Any info will help heaps.

Any former mitsu owners out there that have done this conversion? Anybody know someone who has?

Ordered already. I was after other peoples info as marks told me they blew a paj box while doing 'light towing and driving' on the freeway. But I can't help but think they may have been giving it a hiding previous to that for it to weaken to breaking point. Was just curious to see if anyone else has broken a 90-92 model gearbox.

The KM145 g'box was a bit on the soft side and 3.8 litres of pushrod cast iron might be a bit much. They were discontinued with the NH Paj, early 1991.
I believe that is the box (KM145) the marks kit is for - not the later 91+ models.

I don't think I'd use a commodore V6 without using the T700 that is likely already bolted to it.
I'd be surprised if the pajero box was rated for 300Nm.

Thanks for the input guys. Cancelled my order and changed for the auto kit, I guess towing a loaded bogie drive leyland is just too good a selling point. Its going into a 92 triton but they still run the km145 5 speed. Plus I think I now like the idea of towing with an auto (yes I drove a 7.3 f250) big difference to the old girl but loved it!
