CV Prices

Why are CV prices so high :?:

I broke two last weekend and thought I would just nip down and get some good used ones for about $100. WRONG!

Ok one is totally gone but I think I can save money buy getting just one and get the other rebuilt. WRONG again, rebuilt was more than secondhand.

Stuff it, I will just get new ones..... $840 each side  I don't think so.

What is the justification for the prices of CVs? When it comes down to it, they are just 5 ball bearing in a cage covered by a boot. :x

mine have 6 balls ;)

is that in a ford raider?

why would you buy new when you could get ones from C.O.R.E. or somewhere like that for cheaper?

Yeah the Raider. I'm still trying to find places that sell parts for them let alone cheap. One thing I have lernt is not to even bother ringing Ford. If it has to be OEM then go straight to Mazda as on average the price is 45% cheaper.

Gee that's steep.
I can get 2nd hand Mitsu ones for $200 (per side) for a complete assembly and they will give you $50 back if you give them the trashed one. This is from a local wrecker.
