Hey i know there is a heap of threads on turbos for patrols td42 and ive read them all but its a lot of info to take in and a lot of variances. In my case im looking for around 120rwkw-130 and my vehicle is 90% for 4wding i do use it on road but only really wanting huge off road performance. Could people please recommend a turbo and intercooler setup for this kind of power output. Engine is only on 180,000kms and in good nick. It is currently turboed with a evo 6 turbo but its too small. I have already a 3" exhaust and pyro etc.

any help would be greatly appreciated

DTS kits use a TD05 but I'm not sure on the size, maybe a evo uprade turbo might be easier ie bolt streight up and match the exhaust

thats what i thought too but i cant seem to find a bolt on upgrade that has a big enough exhaust housing for a td42. Ive emailed dts to see if they would sell me a turbo but had no reply

go the garret .78AR compressor with a .60 turbine housing on a highmount manifold. watercooled BB core.. and a four inch exhaust. sounds like a truck and fuc all lag

We do a custom BB turbo, lag is not an issue, you will be limited to about 100 rwkW for the GQ TD42 and about 120 rwkW for the GU on an accurate dyno with any turbo kit as there is not sufficient fuel delivery from the pump.

howzit

if you are going 12mm upgrade for pump and wanna use a t04, have a yarn to Aarron at Desiel&turbo Rotorua hes got the setup you talking about in his own truck (t04z?)
I also contacted turbo kit wholesalers (ARB) for turbo sizes, they will give nothing away ..no surprise.
Or read everything PGS and Andy have ever posted for good tips.

TO4ZR is wayyyy too big for a 4.2L diesel, I run one on my 5.7 Gen III Patrol, 325 rwkW at 9psi. I'd be surprised if you could even spool a TO4ZR beyond 5 psi on a TD42.
