Hey

I got a 92 triton, i want to lift it and put some bigger tyres on it.

What do you need to lift it and how big in the tyre regard can you go?

I have koni shocks on the rear at the moment and looking to get some more to the front. I want a 3" or more lift on it, and tyres to compliment that :)

any help would be good

thanks

If you want flex still, dont give it too much suspension lift and get a body lift with bigger tyres.
Think 2" body with 32" tyres or 2"body with 30 to 50 mm suspension and 33" tyres but then you have to stary thinking diff ratios

interesting!

30 - 50mm suspension.. what do mean by that?

what size can you go to ? 265/80 or...? they are pajero wheel from the same era, however i am thinking of getting steelies for it.

what is good enough so diffs wont be needed?

2" with 31's or 32's?

30-50mm refers to how high it will be lifted, so 1-2". body lift u have to lift other things as well, possibly change gear stick etc, search for body lift, same with suspension lift. i put in new shockc and coils in my paj and ive gained 60mm in the rear and 20mm in the front (without winding torsion bars) and ive just got some 32x11.5.15 BFG ATs. i dont see how suspension lift will reduce ur flex

nice rig man!

what wheels are those, just the normal steely 6 stud?

thanks for the tips, i used to own alot of turbo petrols but very new to the 4by'ing. lots of help is appreciated! 4bying looks to be alot more versatile and fun then boosting around.

i noticed the back have leaf springs, so you will need to change them if you want more lift, i am assuming?

what do i do about the front, just get new shocks and wind the torsion bars up or?

thanks

yep just a normal black steely (15x8)

as with the leaves i dont have a clue, speak to a respectable 4wd suspension store and they will chat with u

atm prob just get new shocks, keep ur original torsion bars and crank them, im doin it tomorrow and ill update u on it

For leaf springs its as simple as extended shackles. Personally I'm also looking at getting a leaf taken out of each pack to soften the ride, and fitting a set of airbags so I can still carry the heavier loads. Hoping it also improves rear flex, the downside to tritons.

lets say i got for 2" lift

i would need some extended shackles for the rear leaf springs? shuld i change the rear leaf's or leave them stock?

for the front, i wind up the stock torsion bar and get some new shocks?

do i need a special shock to counter the lift?

For a 2 inch rear lift on a triton you will need more than extended shackels to do it properly. Try resetting springs or new aftermarket ones. Then you can specify if you was good load carrying or good offroad (soft).

Have you tried a search? The Search function is about fawked however so your results may be not very good

Actually I just tried it and it didn't work..... maybe try it in French or Spanish and it'll work

You shouldn't need new shocks for the front as the amount of travel doesn't increase.

with a two inch lift in the front you will have next to no down travel, resulting in a harsh ride and poor offroad ability

And it wasn't "junk" before the lift?

yes.... but the suspension was better matched front to rear. also it was more comfortable both on road and offroad pre lift

so all this talk and debate, whats the right thing to do?

what tyre size and what parts do i need to have a capable, comfortable lifed truck.. wanting 2-3" or more.. and i dont want to change diffs

If it was mine - i'd be giving it a 40mm body lift and roughly a 1, maybe 2 inch suspension lift, take a couple of overload leaves out of the springs (but don't if you carry heavy 350kg+ loads) to get it flexing & riding nicely, front locker and 33's.

Either 33's and put up with the on road performance or 32's and get a little better grunt. Are you turbo - what motor is it.

One thing to realise, basically no matter what you do it will never be as good on the road as it was std.
