Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Any ideas on this ----
A few years ago I got hit from behind while driving my Hilux. The other car was doing approx 80 km an hour ( wrote it off ) and my Lux got some rear end damage ( but driveable ). At the time I said to my insurance Co, that the car was pulling to the left. I asked, could the Chassy be bent ??? They said, no. I asked that it be checked. They did the usual brush off.
Anyway, it wasnt checked.
I dont drive the Lux much - only when going bush.
Recently, I noticed that the inside of the drivers side front tyre had worn a lot more than the the outside of that tyre.

My CV jopints are also due to be done. ( not making noises, or loose bearings )

Could this wearing be due to a bent Chassy, or a buggered CV joint ???
And whats it cost ( roughly) to get a chassy straightened ?

if your worried about a bent chassis, id go get an independant report though a well known smash repairer and see what they say,

the prob could also be due to incorrect Camber, or loose wheel bearings,

never had much to do with IFS stuff, but i highly doubt that a warn CV could cause that kind of wear,

You could easily have a bent chassis if it was hit more on one side. The diagonals could be out.

Also the control arm bushes might be worn.

The fact the CV boots are cactus wont effect you wheel alignment. Get new boots before you loose all the grease and the damage starts.

Get a wheel alignment and see what it shows up.

Its not IFS. Its an 85 Hilux -- Leafs

After having 2 wheel alignments, I relised ( I actually forgot ) that you cant align the front wheels on that model Hilux, but you can change the camber.

Going by the thoughts given, it looks like it might be the chassy.

You can align the wheels, but you are limited to changing the toe. Camber caster etc are non- adjustable (not without offset kingpins etc).

Bent front axle?

I can't see how a bent chassis would cause wear preferentially on one tyre.

Have you inspected your drag link knuckle arm or J arm? If bent a little bit, the front wheels will scrub if it's not the chassis.

If it was the chassis, I would be thinking the rear tyres would scrub, as you would be going down the road sideways, straight.

Good point. No I havnt checked that. Thats next.

You won't scrub the rear tyres unless the rear total toe is incorrect or the camber is way out. A diamond (bent) chassis will cause the vehicle to "crab" down the road.
