ive looked at them previously, but have never actually progressed any further, i am still keen to get one, but just have to get the funds up again, they new water pumps the guy is using look better than the old white bilge pumps,

if you try one, let us know how it goes,

yeah they look all good its now a bosch pump, decent sized radiator with fan too. Im just a little wooried about how they will line up with throttle body and turbo outlet etc. The reversed tank one i think would be the go. Also its a 50mm thick radiator plus a fan i hop this will fit behind my grill. I have removed my aircon so hopefully it will go maybe have to grind out some of the grill

mate not too sore of ofset would be too good as i think my tubo outlet in manifold inlet are pretty much inline, so prob would be better if you could get the inline version, without having to get the 600HP item,

i guess either way you could make it work no dramas,

which way would you face it then? i think in reading the ad that there may also be a straight thru one that would be the go for me the tidiest option

G'day guys, i bought one straight out of the factory that makes them in the USA, i got the upgraded pump/fitting kit/hoses/t-bolt clamps/2nd thermo fan/etc/etc delivered to my door direct for not much more than what the fella on Ebay was wanting for the basic kit. Their address is www.frozenboost.com I ordered it, and it was delivered a bit over a week later as i recall, if that. Havent fitted it yet, but the quality of everything appears as good if not better than other intercoolers i looked at over here. And 1/4 of the price :)

thanks for that mate i just checked it out its seems a damn good deal to me they look the good what are you fitting yours too. WHen you say you bought the uprated one do you mean the 600hp one or you bought the 350hp one but with the better bosch pump?

No worries at all mate. As i said, i couldnt've been happy with their service. Any emails were answered in under a day, the postage/packageing was 2nd to none. It was a bit of a risk, i could've got crap, but it worked out great. They told me they've never had a intercooler fail in all the years they've been goin, so thats alright. I was planning on fitting it to my 4.2ltr GU Patrol, but as i'm now selling it i dunno what i'll do with it. I got the 600hp kit, purely cause the radiator was bigger. I got a 2nd thermo fan to, overkill maybe, but i'm all for excess. I also got the installation kit. A couple of assorted silicone elbows/pipes, a couple of stainless steel joiners, some t-bolt clamps (also cheap-as from them), the upgraded Bosch cobra pump as well. I think that was all. It was about $800AUD-ish all up, that was delivered to my door. Oh, i went the (on the frozenboost.com website) type-4 opposite-side intercooler too. We made one up out of cardboard before ordering and it seemed to be a good fit. Checked it all out again when it arrived and it'd fit great. The type-10 one would also work i reakon. Cheers, Ash

I'd be more inclined to try the Subaru water/air.
Very reasonable cost. There was a thread about it some time ago.

im currently using a subaru one they are too small for td42s ive been told especially when youre tryingto make decent power

I would have thought the Subaru's would be outputting far more power than what you would get from the TD4.2.

thats what i thought too but i dont think its quite that simple its a much larger engine, im taking mine off anyway but dont take my word for it

the subaru one one will still cost a few hundred and youre getting all 2nd hand gear no fan on the radiator, smaller radiator smaller core and you will have to modify mounts and intake to suit the td42. go direct to frozenboost.com and you will find you can get the kit delivered to your door including everything for no much more than 500aud

How would the air con condenser go as a radiator for one of these things?

Its big and already has a fan. I've ditched my air con in favour of on-board-air but the condenser and fan is still in place...........

the straight through 600hp is the one you want fits perfectly on a gq/gu. Straight fron the cold end into the cooler and then 90deg 3" to 2.5" silicone reducer straight into the intake. Very easy fitment.

Mounting the water pump is the hardest bit.

Be sure that your mechanical fan is sound otherwise your aircond pressures will head to a burst hose explosion.

The fan will fit on the 1" rad in font of the rad with a bit of trimming of the inside of the grill. Be sure that there is not to much pressure on the fan from the grill as the outer ring will rub holes in the cores of the rad.

yes works very well. Sorry got no pics, fits nicely but. An example of inlet temps measured before and after turbo are, i measured 96 before 46 after. This is straight after a big uphill run

Have now worked out how to get the picts on hope this helps

This is the 600 hp unit i bought off ebay and uses the cheaper pump but works fine, havent done any temp checks of intake air etc but have found it does reduce the power alot when turned off.
