Outer Limits 4x4 Board

needing some advice. been looking for some steel rims in 15x8 for my 93 live axle hilux, and was told by one place that the only way other than buying expensive alloys was to use 1" spacers to stop the rim from fouling on caliper.

my question is, theres a lot of you guys running 15x8's on same model hiluxs with out spacers, what is the rims spec i should be asking for?

It should be fairly simple, dependant on tyre size.

If the tires are standard then you simply need the same offset as your current rims.

Steel rims with the appropriate offset should be real easy to come by.

Mine have - 28 offset to fit my tires.

Anyone who tells you they can't get the right size steel offset rims is a joker.

just the problem is with the sunrasia's the spokes foul on calipers on the front, and i will be fitting 33x12.5 claws to them.. at the moment its only got the stocko cheesecutter split rims

I run the same tires on a 4 Runner.

Perhaps try another brand or get in contact with a 4B shop, the wheels you need will exist.

I'd look at Pro Comp rims... they offer a few different styles and offset options. I'm really happy with mine

You just want good old fashioned leaf sprung Hilux/Cruiser rims. See them all the time. Offset is around 25 neg from memory depending on brand and size 7 or 8". You don't want coil spring offset which is 80 Series, Nissans which are around 0. Then the IFS range are usually around 10 pos.

I'd say your biggest problem is the tools you are talking to as they either know very little about wheels/tyres or they just want to rip you.

As you can see the more common 0 offset with 1" spacers would give you the equivalent of 25 neg. I'm sure Sunraysia still do them but there are plently of others that do if they don't and they are still cheap as - under $100 ea or thereabout. Was someone selling them on ebay for while but haven't seen them lately.

I think from memory IFS Hilux is Pos 4 degrees.

Landcruiser (75, ect) should be Neg 22.

Dynamic Wheels have them in 15x8. The part number is A17. I bought six of them for the hilux (IFS though) and they work well. I paid $60 per rim.

I think I heard someone say that the Neg 22 offset should also work on the earlier Lux's also.

If you do a search for Dynamic Wheels, they have a datasheet on the website that lists the offsets and applications.

Mine is a 92 and I'm running a 15x8 rim with 33's. Not sure of the rim offset but they are made by ROH and are sunrasia style rim.

ive had my dads 15x8 jj i think they are....cruiser offset and they dont hit the calipers,but i did put on an old skool cruiser rim and it hit the caliper at the spokes...try a few brands,mine has flipped rims now so i had to shave a bit off my caliper,no real effect tho

its not the offset that matters, its the thickness of the steel of the spokes.

whether they are welded to the rim on a cruiser offset, or a IFS lux offest, they still stay on the same angle and become close to the calipers depending on thickness.




dynamic rims foul on both my hiluxs and other people ive talked to

you could get the grinder to them and take off the inside ridge on the caliper. It doesnt affect anything but its not legal.
