When i had a TB42 i found it helped quite a bit, so long as you do the exhaust system at the same time, just putting extractors on and keeping the original exhaust does nothing, you need to go 2.5" system and a high flow muffler (sports straight though are the best)

When i got mine done, i did it the same day i got 33" tyres fitted, and when it came back from the exhaust shop it felt the same as having 31's on, the accleleration and up hill power with 33's was the same as having 31's and original exhaust, and boy did it has a awsome note when decelerating off the freeway at 110K's.

When i went 35's it still had enough power to keep over 100K's up some of the steepest hills on the F3 Freeway on the Central Coast in 4th gear, so was happy with that.

Just put a set of pacemakers on mine with a 2 1/4 sports system. Should have done it ages ago. Makes a huge difference!

Can I ask where you got the exhaust done and how much to expect?

I'm after extractors (Pacemaker) and 2.5" sports system for TB42 in Sydney.
