Falcon or Commo, depending on how the alernator is mounted. They are the same alternator with a slightly different housing, you want EF-ish falcon or VP-ish commo, $40 from pick-a-part. It's a bosch 85A unit you want; some look the same but are 70A.
I just can't recall whether the TB42 has a two-feet kind of mounting (like ford) or the single big foot type of mounting (like commodore), and it's a bit cold outside so I don't want to go check

Be aware that there is several mounting differences on them. The company I worked for supplied the Tarong mine gear that's how i got mine I had new bearings and brushes done once i found the correct mounting to suit. not sure if the serial/model number will help, it's too long ago and dont do auto electrics anymore. Also the pulley is a "made to fit" that was lying around the workshop!

The reg is internal on the tb42 standard ones (hitachi I think). Best bet is to take to auto electrician to "run it up" on a bench that way they can tell what's wrong and you can go from there. should cost bugga all and then you know for sure what to do, then spend some $$$. If there is nothing wrong with the alternator the fusable link may have blown. Not sure which one it is, but they are the ones near the positive terminal from memory there is a green orange and brown one. Sorry can't be of more help.
