Yes. Blue top optimas are popular.

Some batteries are designed to be bashed around (good speed boat batteries, 4WD speciality units) and some are not (truck, big boat, car)

If you get one that's not, the plates can be too thin or not secured well enough, and can break off, short out ... dead battery.

As long as it's 12v, and not deep cycle if you want to start off it, you'll be right. Check the cranking power it says it gives ya, and related it back to what you're trying to start off it.

Make some enquiries with the battery guys. One company used to extend the warranty for an extra 12 months if a marine battery was used in a 4x4

As a general rule marine battery's are better for 4Wd's as they are built to withstand rough conditions.

Be aware that the CCA ratings are different for marine batteries. The CCA for marine batteries is at 0˚C but for "car" batteries it's well below 0˚C. Can't remember the exact temperature number and can't be bothered looking it up.

Anyway, a red top optima is rated for 880CA. but the SAME battery with a blue top is rated 1000CCA, and it's all in the temperature rating applied to marine batteries.

Not knocking marine, just don't primarily buy on CCA without understanding what the rating mans.
